She had gotten out. Gotten out into the gardens all by herself. It was, in a few words, a purely transcendant feeling. The feel of soft, moist dirt between bare toes and lightly buffeting winds carrying on them the scents of rain and evening.
It had, undoubtedly, been incredibly difficult. You would think the place was a prison the gaurds they had. but, as always, Raven Jackson triumphed over advesity. At least for a few moments.
She practically skipped through the flowers, turning her face up as a light rain began and absolutely revelling in the beauty of it all. It occured to her, almost as an afterthought, that she should have grabbed her guitar, just for old times sake. But, of course, it wasn't as if she could just nip in and grab it now.
The 19 year olf, confined in the whitewashed walls of St. Mary's for the last two years felt free for those few minutes, the angelic grace in her pale face and the bright smile on her mouth seemed to transform her.
In a moment she sat down in a nice plot of grass and began to weave a tiny daisy crown from the little white flowers all around. Oh, but if the kids she had gone to highschool with could see her now. Sitting in the rain making daisy crowns in a nice white dress. Even her best friend Margaret wouldn't have believed it.
Ah, but it seemed that her freedom had come to a close as a pair of sharp footsteps echoed across the dim gardens. Raven promptly ignored the footsteps and, eventually, the voice, she intended to make the most out of her outside time as possible.

Unlike most of the Patients that rarely got a chance in the gardens on such a beautiful day, Edward Grimm had not escaped. It had been a rather good day. He had skipped his medication... with permission from the doctors of course, due to a long run of rather decent, or shell we say... Sane behaviour. So.. they had let him out into the gardens for an Hour, as a reward for his co-operation. Edward had always been good at putting on a mask to shield his face from those who examined him. In all truth, he was suffering from his illness just as much as he was every other day.
The Gardens were looking extravagant today. Edward found himself leaving the comfort of a picnic table with a few sandwiches supplied by the nurses for his good behaviour, and wandering rather slowly through the sweet tranquillity that was flowers. He always loved Flowers. The smell.. the sweet scent that envelops your senses as you stroll past. The feel of the velvet petals beneath rough and course hands. Most of all he loved the way they looked. Free, beautiful and untouched. Even with thorns, Roses were the most magnificent sight.
He was dressed like any normal person would be on a day such as this. Although the nurses still did not allow him to wear any jewellery or a belt, because although Edward was not a suicide threat, any moment the pain could become to unbearable and perhaps the belt tied to a tree and himself handing dead from it seemed a little to overwhelming for the nurses and doctors. He would never do such a thing, of course.. although right now... in the right surroundings, he was in the right state of mind. His attire was a rather baggy white tee-shirt, given to most of the male patients when they are out in the gardens, a pair of loose fitting coronary black shorts and a pair of slip on sneakers with no laces. It was at least better then the dress like robes they made them wear.. and it far outweighed a straight-jacket.
It was not until he was out of sight of his picnic table that he noticed a fellow patient sitting on a rather well-kept stop of grass. He cocked his eye-brows, almost keeling over in pain as a sharp twang of pain hit his stomach. They would never go away, he knew it, but it seemed that this was the only one that would happen today. When he finally gathered himself up again, he wandered down a relatively steep hill to approach the girl that he had known as Raven. They had never really talked before, although he was addiment that she would at least know his name. "Hello There, Raven" he said in his usual fake aristocratic manor.

Raven had always been fairly good at matching face to name and this evening was no exception. Running a brief list of names throughr head, Nurses: No, Doctors: No, Eric: No, Andrew: No, Elen: No, one of the patients...? She paused, twisting another daisy onto the crown and setting it atop her brown hair before turning around.
"Oh. Edward." She smiled brightly, "I thought you were one of the doctors. Me and Andrew snuck out a bit ago but I think I've lost him.. He does that sometimes..." She frowned pensively, trying to think of where her "Friend" had gone off to. She had been seeing him a lot lately, most likely the results of ignored medications.
Snapping back to reality she stood, a bit uneasily at first, her legs wobbly from remaining crosslegged so long, and smilde at the younger boy, "Have you snuck out too then?"

Perhaps it was his health, or maybe just the happiness brought by this summers days that had made him some-what talkative. Although he would usually speak with himself, or Marius.. the person whom Edward believed top be real.. and the person that all these damned doctors persisted to tell him was not. Edward knew Marius was real, and understood exactly where Raven was coming from as she talked about Andrew. Although, the Meds seemed to surprises Marius from visiting, making for an extremely angry patient.
"I see" said Edward in response to her statement, a slight and unintentional nod moving his head up and down. There was another pain, this time in his shoulder and for once he wished the doctors would just come and take him to his room, drug him up and let his dose. He hid the pain, simply putting his hands on his shoulder and keeping a smile on his dark face.
"No.. actually" he said with a grin, the pain dissipating slowly, but not completely. "The nurses say I am making steady progress and this.." he said gesturing to the gardens around them "Is my reward" a real smile now adorned his face, licking his dry lips and looking straight into the eyes of his fellow Patiant. "And Yourself.. You should not be sneaking out. Naughty Naughty Raven" he said with sarcasem and a smile. He would not tell the staff, even if it did get him more time outside.

Raven frowned pensively, "You won't tell anyone will you?" She looked nervous, biting down on her lower lip with her longish brownish teeth. She flexed her fingers, exposing the long, thick nails that formed another side effect of her condition.
"I've only ever managed it this one time. I don't want them to take away trips outside for even longer..." She trailed off, anxiety written deeply into the lines of her face, her long fingers twisting final daisy into strange shaped.
Her heart was racing with uncontrollable nerves, anxiety affected her less than hallucinations and depression but without her medication it tended to take hold at the drop of a hat. The fact that she didn't know him very well on top of this already nerve wracking thing she had done was enough to nearly break her down.

"Of course I will not tell.. but if you get caught, I had nothing to do with it. For all i know you were allowed out here" he nodded and held a single finger across his thin pink lips to suggest quiet. "I will not tell anyone.. my dear" He hoped she would not be deturned by his comment, for as he did not know her well.. it might scare her a little as he caleld her 'My dear'. Edward dismissed the problem before he licked his lips and ran his dark fingers through messy hair.
"On a change of subject.. a wonderful day we are having.. I can see why you chose to sneak away from the walls of the Hospital" he gave a quaint smile, looking slightly to the side before bending down to pick up a rose that was growing next to him. He plucked the pre-mature flower from the soil, bringing it to his nose and letting the senct envalop his sences. "Would a rose, if called by any other name.. smell as sweet?" he said quoting Shakespeare, or it was more Marius quoting Shakespeare.
Edward had not even heard himself speak until he returned to himself. He dropped the flower and looking back up at Raven. "Join me for a Picnic?" he asked, pointing to a picnic table that was closer to the hospital, but still out-of-sight from the doctors windows.

It took a few moments for the anxiety to die down, but then she smiled pleasantly. "I would love to. You haven't got any coke have you?" She skipped over to the table, white skirt flipping slightly to reveal her slender pale legs and her dark curls bouncing pleasantly on her shoulders as she sat down at the table.
She was, in some moments, very much a child. Even as she picked up a little triangle of sandwich in her long, spindly fingers and took the tiniest bite out of it she seemed much younger than her nineteen years.
It was a few moments before the bright, cheerful look left her face and she set the sandwich down with a disgusted look on her face. For a bare moment it had seemed rotted, maggots crawling within the white bread. It was enough to make anyone want to throw up.

"Unfortunately, no.. but I have sparkling Mineral water which is rather good, if i don't say so myself" he said with a smile, making his way up the hill slowly behind Raven. When he reached the table she ahd already sat down and was eyeing the food. "Help yourself" he said with a firm and friendly manor, having scenced Raven's uneasiness at his comments earlier.
He took a seat, pouring himself a drink of Sparkling Mineral water and doing the same in another plastic cup that the nurses had given him. He pushed it across the table to her so she might drink it, and he took a sip of his own as Raven took a bite of a sandwhich, which he was about to stop her but he was to late. He watched her put a disgusted look to her face and Edward could not help but break out in a loud laughter.
"Well.. you did pick up a Tomato and Egg sandwhich... not exactly the best or most... eatable platter" he gave another small laugh. "Here..." he said passing her his last thin peice of Chocolate cake "This is a little more.. appatising" he smiled, placing the Cake on her plate and still laughing.
