The year is 1975, and never before has the question of the safety of Hogwarts been feared as at present. Tom Marvolo Riddle, who has coined himself as the Dark Lord Voldemort, has been wreaking havoc on the wizarding world along with his Death Eaters, in their preparation for an extensive takeover. Authority in the wizarding world is slowly being undermined, eroded even, and society seems to be crumbling in terror, as the most hallowed locations of the wizarding world are slowly being pinpointed and destroyed, often from the inside. Traitors and spies lurk within the Ministry; those that were meant to protect are now sabotaging and destroying, either forcibly or by choice. Even those who have been caught pose some difficulty; the Ministry is having an immensely tricky time judging who is under the Imperius Curse, who has been threatened into doing His bidding and those that have committed atrocities of their own free will. Clearly the ministry has been infiltrated by the enemy; uncertainty is everywhere, fear is rampant.
However, bravery and compassion continues, and one place in particular remains a beacon of hope amidst the chaos and indecision. Against the advice of the Ministry of Magic and the Minister himself, Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts is adamant that the school of witchcraft and wizardry remain open. Many families have withheld their children from schooling this year with the false assurance that their offspring will be safer at home. This assumption is a sadly mistaken one. Magical families and prominent witches and wizards are disappearing from their homes only to be found soon later, brutally slaughtered or tortured into obedience to the terrifying new entity. Panic is widespread as the security of the wizarding community and its people are put sharply into question. Never before has a war like this been seen by magical society; it is both open and underhanded at the same time.
Meanwhile, a secret society to rival the Death Eaters is being subtly formed. Headed by Albus Dumbledore, the Order of the Phoenix is feeble and diminutive in number, but is quickly gaining support. Still, to the ears of the powerful and conceited Lord Voldemort, the Order is but a laughable whisper. In the meantime, he is preparing to attack a more powerful and valuable target. Highly coveted by those who seek power, demise of this particular stronghold would mean the downfall of the wizarding world. Voldemort’s next move is to capture the future. To capture the future is to hold the ultimate weapon against those who fight for justice.
Hogwarts is no longer safe.
Now their 5th year has officially begun, the Marauders and their classmates are looking forward to another year of pranking and hilarity, along with the occasional light-hearted moments that come with it. However with the wizarding community in its current state it is doubtful that there will be as much rejoicing as in previous years. War is in full swing and things are getting far too close for comfort, as the battle edges ever closer to the shores of their sacred school. Mysterious disappearances within the school have caused an uneasy atmosphere. Members of the staff have seemingly been abducted, and even more disturbingly, some of the students themselves have vanished. Whether their absences are temporary or permanent, and the whereabouts of those few, are unapparent even to the learned mind of Albus Dumbledore. Temporary replacements have been brought in for certain subjects, while for others it is uncertain whether or not they will be continued at all. However, most of the faithful students that have remained have complete trust in their competent and astute Headmaster. But even then, this devotion is not undisputed. It is becoming ever clearer that there is a traitor within their own ranks. Whether these persons are in the student body or teaching staff and whether they act alone or in groups is indefinite, but one thing is for sure: students must be wary or else, fall, another nameless victim of a war they seemingly have no part in.
