The Character;
Name; Holden Cassidy Gallagher
Gender; Male.
Age; Sixteen.
Race; Caucasian. Nothing more, nothing less.
Illness; Holden suffers from maniac depression. Some symptoms of the depression it causes include low mood, sleep disturbance, loss of appetite, a sense of pessimism, hopelessness, reduced sexual drive, loss of interest or pleasure in life, reduced ability to concentrate and recurrent thoughts of death and suicide. Its actual symptoms are elevated moods or euphoria, increased activity, pressured fast speech, self-important ideas or grandiose delusions, hallucinations, reduced sleep, increased appetite for food and sex, overspending on a wild scale and all-night excesses. These occur at different times, depending on his mood.
Appearence; Holden actually has a boyish charm to him, and looks anything but evil. His face is shaped squarely, with no build to it whatsoever, and sticking out are two slightly small ears. Fluffy hair is placed on the top of his head, and can either be called a dirty blonde or light brown; it all depends on lighting. This hair can be styled easily, though since his new found illness, it has just been unkept. Long, ebony lashes are curled from his pale eyelids, and just above them happen to be a bushy set of eyebrows. Baby blue optics are just doors that can be easily opened to his feelings. Protruding from the middle of his face happens to be a small nose that is rounded at the end. While his cheeks have a little chub to them, his cheekbones are actually quite low, and they used to be set aglow by a tinge of pink. For a boy of sixteen, his lips are quite full and red, rarely ever moving to show not-so-white teeth that aren't too straight. His chin sets off the squared look to his face by being quite flat, yet rounded.
He's not so proud of his full-on figure. Very little muscle is seen throughout his body, save for some on his arms. His build is quite lanky, reaching a height of 5'6 and being around one hundred and twenty two pounds. When his illness wasn't recognized well, he wore casual and cool things, like just a plain t-shirt and baggy jeans. Now all he wears is St. Mary's clothing.
Personality; Holden Cassidy Gallagher used to be a normal kid. Y'know, riding bikes, doing his homework, playing with his dog; that kind of thing. The social butterfly at school, he was well-liked and the perfect, happy-go-lucky boy. Until that horrible day when Bud, his golden retriever, got ran over by a car and immediately died. The dog just so happened to be his best friend, and the eight year old was quite torn. That's when he started pulling away from everyone. He made sure not to get too close to anyone so he wouldn't have to face the dangers of losing a loved one. Most of the time he kept to himself, but a select few times he did have friends. Of course, they were either jerks, assholes, and even the occasional nerd. Now, coming to girls, that wasn't much of a different story. At the age of fourteen he lost his virginity, and his sex drive had begun. Many one night stands happened over the years, all of which he clearly regretted. Though he would have regretted it more if he got too close. He's even experimented with guys, so he's classified as a bisexual.
This boy had begun to think thoughts, thoughts that were just abnormal, and others that were quite dangerous. He had an interesting and unusual outlook on the whole aspect in life, and didn't really care anymore. Just gave up on everything; school, family, friends, the whole nine yards. Often he found himself restless, not being able to sit in one spot for too long, and even sometimes getting so bored as to start talking to walls. Every minute of his life he is always thinking about something, whether it be the lamp in his bedroom, the girl he saw passing down the hallway and how sorry he felt for her, or even flashbacks of his past life. It even got so bad that he even thought about suicide. Holden's quite pessimistic, as he always tries to find the worst in a situation. He can't stand the thought of a rainbow or butterfly, and just picks at the flaws until it's quite broken. He does that to everyone and thing, but doesn't say anything out loud. Saying things without thinking is usually what he does, but it leads to trouble, so it's just better if he keeps his mouth shut.
Though he has a mental disorder, he's still a boy; quite immature. As he rarely ever laughs, he actually likes making other people laugh; it makes him feel better about himself. Unlike a boy, he doesn't like to eat. That's what causes his skinny build; even when his stomache is aching for food, his brain tells him he isn't hungry. And he listens to his brain more than any other body part. Often he gets hallucinations because of this, acting on what he's thinking at the moment, which could be anything.
Hmm, yes, Holden is quite the bi-polar. His moods change quite frequently, and they just all of a sudden happen. It actually seems like he should take Mydol or something.
History; June first, in the middle eighties, the perfect couple met in a bar. Some may not think the pole-dancer and lawyer weren't meant for each other, but, once you got to know the two, they were quite the inseperable pair. After a year or so of dating, Johnathan Gallager popped the question, and an excited Bobbi answered with a 'Yes.' After being happily married for a couple years, they decided to start a family, and the first to pop out was Holden Cassidy. The two, not being the wealthiest of families, spoiled Holden to an extent, until the second addition to their family came. Bella Shyanne came, and now the attention was turned onto her and not the first born of two years. Silently he went into a solitude state, until they noticed and gave him a huge lecture about how 'the new baby needs attention' and 'we still love you' kind of thing.
Growing up, Holden was a happy-go-lucky child, with a younger sister to mess with, parents to spoil him, friends to spend time with, and a dog named Bud that was ever so loyal. The parents of Holden were so proud of their child's achievement, and knew he would gain great success one day.
That was so wrong.
When the ten year old was playing Frisbee with Bud, it flew into the street and Bud ran after it. Headlights were seen, then a yelping occurred; then all was silent. That day, Holden lost his best friend, and his whole life changed. Everyone he knew were pushed away by him as he kept in solidarity. No one knew what was wrong with him; not even he did. As he grew older, though, he was introduced to people that had the same outlook on life as him, so he "befriended" them. Girls that didn't know the story behind his blue eyes thought him cute, and many one night stands were held, beginning at the age of fourteen.
As thoughts of suicide occurred, and more strange things began to happen to him, John and Bobbi began to worry. Soon they took him to a psychiatrist, much to Holden's displeasure. The doctor psychoanalyzed him, and told the unhappy parents of his mental disorder. His parents were devastated as they said he had to go to a hospital in New York, but he felt bad and reassured them he was going to be fine.
This is his first year at St. Mary's, and he hopes it's his last. Honestly, who likes being psychoanalyzed and such at a smelly hospital with a horrible reputation?
Your character loves; Holden really doesn't like anything, but I'll name one thing. Family. He absolutely loves and cares for his family, though he always pushes them away.
Hates; Merry things. St. Mary's. Being psychoanalyzed. Psychiatrists. Painful memories. Maniac Depression. Food. Being restless. Phonies.
Home Town; Holden is from a big city in Maine.
Sample; Okay, so maybe going to the owlery isn't the best thing during the night. Maybe I should rewind it for you.
Isabella had a blast at the welcoming feast and party, and she'd redo it over in a second. Being the social butterfly she is, she made at least ten friends, while even making a few enemies. It was all worth it, though.
Once everyone was comfortably tucked in their beds, awaiting the slumber that was to come because of the exhaustion the party caused them, Izzy climbed out, quite restless for the day to come. Quickly she patted her fat bunny Holden on the head as she thought about what to do. Clearly she wasn't tired, and she didn't have a clue as to what she would do, let alone could do. Hogwarts had quite a curfew, and after that no one was to be out of their beds. It was a simple rule that a monkey could follow, but Izzy was definitely not a monkey.
Putting on a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt, knowing no one else would be outside, she rushed down the stairs in tiptoes. Though she had just gotten to Hogwarts, she smacked the visual of the perimeter into her head to be stuck forever, therefore she easily remembered where the West Tower, or Owlery, was located. It took her a good half-hour to reach the Tower, as she had to go down a million flights of stairs and back up a thousand. She didn't even realize how big Hogwarts was until that little adventure.
Once she was in the tower, though, she new she was safe; until she had to go back to her dormitory. Usually a Ravenclaw wouldn't have the guts to break rules, but Izzy was different. Though she never got in trouble, the little sneak has done a good number of "bad" things in her lifetime. Some she's not proud of, but many that she could care less about. A smirk was placed on her face as she thought of one adventure she had with her brother in the woods while they were on their new broomsticks. Then it quickly faded after she recalled the other thing that happened, and she erased the thought from her mind. Looking around the unusual place, she saw hundreds of owls; some the school's, some the student's.
Why had Izzy come all the way out here? Truthfully, she can't stand to be alone, and needed something to keep her company. Her bunny was even asleep, so she figured at least one owl may be up. Thankfully she spotted a regular brown barn owl that was one of the few still up, and it swooped down at the sight of her. It didn't at all bite, it was even very affectionate, and as she found a safe place free of droppings and other such items, she crouched down with the owl still perched on her arm.
